A solid wholesale business with 650 doors and 35 directly operated mono-brand stores have been sustaining the organic growth of Swedish luxury brand Acne Studios. The recently opened London store in Pelham Street, South Kensington will be followed by several key openings this year – a second store Japan, a 5000-square-foot flagship in downtown Los Angeles, two shop-in-shops and a freestanding store in Seoul, as well as a third store in Paris on the Quai Voltaire.
A minority shareholder bought a stake of 21 percent in Acne in 2006 and the company’s retail expansion has been organic, financed exclusively through the cash flow generated by the business.
