Surrounded by palm and olive trees on the outskirts Morocco’s UNESCO-protected city of Marrakech, Amanjena has served as a tranquil retreat since its opening in 2000. Now, 25 years later, the resort will close its doors to reopen in October 2025 following a quiet refurbishment. Reflecting Aman’s dedication to upholding and refining the guest experience and to honouring the distinctive cultures of its destinations, the enhancements will focus on both elevating the level of comfort offered and on evolving the original, heritage-led design of this iconic resort.
A new room category, Pool Pavilion South, will be introduced, offering an expansive 220 square metres (2,368 square feet) of indoor and outdoor living space. Located on the southern side of the property for optimal sunlight throughout the day, each Pool Pavilion South overlooks the Amelkis golf course and features a private heated pool within a secluded garden. The interiors will be in keeping with the resort’s aesthetic, which blends Aman’s minimalist design principles with traditional local touches, including Berber carpets and zellige tiles for a true Moroccan immersion.
Among the updates will be an enhancement of the accommodation offering, beginning with the resort’s Pavilions. Inspired by the rose-hued buildings of old Marrakech and already palatial in stature, each Pavilion will be redecorated with new upholstery including plush headboards, carpets and daybeds, adding texture and softness, alongside updated lighting to further refine the atmosphere. Elsewhere, Amanjena’s two-bedroom Villas will see refreshed fabrics, carpets and soft furnishings, adding a sense of warmth and comfort to each space. Similarly, the decor of the Heritage Two-Bedroom Villa will benefit from updated upholstery and flooring throughout.
Amanjena will also present a new Three-Bedroom Pool Villa with a generous layout that’s perfect for larger groups of friends and families seeking additional space. Alongside two master suites, the Villa includes a third bedroom, expansive indoor living and dining areas, an outdoor shower and a 36-square-metre (387.5-square-foot) heated swimming pool. In addition, the villa will house a second lounge with a working fireplace, daybed and desk, effortlessly balancing spaces to socialise and retreat.
In line with the brand’s ever-evolving wellness philosophy, a newly designed fitness space will also be introduced. The ground level will house a state-of-the-art gym for cardio and weight training, while the upper floor will be home to a serene yoga studio providing a warm and inviting space for movement and meditation.
Lastly, Amanjena will unveil a thoughtfully reimagined dining experience with the introduction of a new restaurant, with more details to be revealed closer to its launch. Amanjena will welcome guests from October 2025, starting a new chapter in its 25th year.
