Located on the prestigious Rue du Faubourg Saint Honore, home to the world’s leading international luxury fashion brands as well as many art galleries, Le Bristol Paris is also steps from Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The hotel which opened in 1925 provides a classic environment, the architecture and decor reflecting the 18th century history of when the hotel was originally built.
An open plan reception leads to Le Jardin Francais, a lounge area overlooking a large and beautifully manicured courtyard garden. The rooftop indoor heated swimming pool resembles the front of a large sailboat. Abundant in light, the pool overlooks the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and le Sacre-Coeur. It was designed by architect Professor Pinnau who is renowned for designing the yachts of Onassis. For my stay, the pool was a most relaxing experience especially gazing at the sweeping views of Paris.
The hotel is rife with 18th century style antiques, the signature decor being the toile de Jouy which includes classic patterned furnishings and floral motifs. There is a 1940′ working elevator and old style door keys for all rooms and suites. This recreates an elegant and deeply aristocratic feeling.
The hotel excels with its gastronomy offering its restaurants holding a total of 4 Michelin stars. Under the helm of Eric Frechon, Epicure has held the 3 Michelin star rating since 2009, while the brasserie-style 114 Faubourg Restaurant was awarded one Michelin star in 2013. Executive chef since 1999 at Epicure, Eric Frechon (Meuilleur Ouvrier de France in 1993) is a celebrated and highly respected chef on the Paris dining scene. Thanks to his leadership, Epicure is considered a French gastronomy institution.
During my stay, I had dinner at 114 Faubourg, a favorite dining spot for Parisians, both lunch and dinner. The imaginative brasserie-style cooking is prepared in a kitchen that opens onto the dining area. The decor exudes a more trendy atmosphere than the rest of the hotel, with a smart casual dress-code. For me, it was a formidable experience, with impeccable food and outstanding customer service. The front desk, sommelier, wait staff were first rate. A big thank you for Patrice and his team.
The Spa uniquely boasts daylight in most of the treatment rooms, overlooking the garden. I had a fantastic deep tissue massage, performed by Peter, one of the best therapists I have ever encountered – a truly amazing experience! The massage was utterly relaxing and comforting making for an exceptional evening.
Service throughout the entire hotel is solid, I was particularly impressed with the dining venues, the Front Office, the Concierge and the Housekeeping. Service is intuitive, warm and prompt. Breakfast is a la carte, with a good selection of dishes.
Le Bristol Paris is the crown jewel of the Oetker Collection, which includes a collection of masterpiece hotels (Brenners Park, Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, Palacio Tangara – Sao Paulo, L’Apogée Courchevel, Fregate Island Seychelles, The Lanesborough London). The Oetker family acquired Le Bristol in 1978.
