Dubai is back ! Why Dubai and why the Anantara The Palm Resort as the ideal choice to stay and experience the city?
We are indeed so fortunate to be in a progressive country that happens to be a beautiful combination of a cultural and tourism hub to the world at large. Situated quite centrically on the map, visitors from all corners of the globe regularly flock to Dubai to experience world-class entertainment, impressive culinary dining, and of course stunning state-of-the-art resorts that are second to none in comparison. Anantara The Palm Dubai is an ideal choice to experience the city due to its proximity to key attractions including Mall of The Emirates – which has a daily scheduled shuttle bus departing to and from the resort. From there, guests may take the metro and explore other exciting locations of this cosmopolitan city.
To what extent you cater more or less to families? Do you already have generational guests?
Our resort provides a myriad of facilities to cater to families. In this respect we provide family lagoon access rooms, with a secondary level with twin beds decorated in child-friendly wall decor. Anantara The Palm Dubai features TukTuk Kids club, a space where little guests can unleash their creativity with daily activities and games to keep them entertained. Chill teens club comes fitted with the latest game consoles as well as billiards, air-hockey and a foosball table. Water sport activities for the family from our authentic Thai, longtail boat rides, to exhilarating fly board activities. We absolutely have guests that have been repeat visitors since we’ve opened our doors in 2013; it’s moments like this when we can truly appreciate our amazing impact.
Unlike other major destinations which are still in early phases of post pandemic recovery, what is behind Dubai’s resilience and relative rapid bounce back?
We can thank HH Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his vision and resilience in keeping the country in a continually progressive environment. Thanks to such leadership, are we given the tools to combat the effects of the pandemic. The country’s vaccination rate is at an impressive 85.18% with over 95% of the population having received their first dose.
In Dubai’s highly competitive market, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort has firmly established itself among the leading properties also thanks to the consistency of the service? How much more challenging is to discover, nurture and motivate talent?
Soliciting and instilling the highest standards of services is never an easy task, but we at Anantara truly believe in the power of talent from within the organisation. We aim to recruit as many people who have experience from Anantara as a means to instil passion-powered-growth. We offer a range of growth opportunities, from internal transfers to secondments entitled “task forces”, where we expose our talented team members to learning opportunities in other properties around the world.
Is a major brand such as Anantara perceived as ‘’safer” when it comes to Covid-19, especially when it comes to the firm and consistent implementation of measures to protect both staff and guests?
Absolutely. Anantara is dedicated to ensuring the comfort, luxury as well as the health and wellbeing of our guests. Which is why the company has rapidly implemented the “Stay with Peace of Mind” campaign since the start of the pandemic. Showcasing the new health features utilised. These include the use of masks, social distancing, a complete disinfection of all rooms and villas, baggage and personal belongs and much more.
How has the profile of your guest changed, if in any way? Do they perceive luxury differently and have different expectations?
Our guest profile has more or less remained the same, the main difference would likely be in the sheer volume of guests we had prior and post pandemic due to ongoing restrictions in some of our key source markets. Guests most certainly expect higher levels of cleanliness and disinfection which we most certainly deliver with the help of our talented housekeeping team. We want to ensure the health of each and every guests who chooses to stay with us.
What is your view on the recovery of major events?
Major events in the UAE have continued to flourish following safe levels of vaccination levels. I don’t believe there is anything stopping this country from continuing its legacy of world’s most thriving destination following the pandemic. Most if not all events, venues and entertainment facilities have resumed with the main exception of wearing masks in public places.
To what extent you also attract locals to your venues?
Our resort tends to be quite popular with our local guests, especially those visiting from other Emirates over the weekend. Room categories including our iconic Over Water Villas and Beach Pool Villas provide our most discerning guests the ultimate luxurious space with absolute privacy – allowing guests to feel at ease and spend quality time with their families.
What is your comp set? Has this changed? What has been your approach to rates?
Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah, Sofitel Dubai The Palm, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, W Dubai – The Palm
Our property is number 1 in terms of ADR for the last few years.
How important is EXPO 2020 for Dubai and for your property?
EXPO 2020 is a key event for the city since the Dubai won the bid in 2013; it provides a massive international platform for business and tourism to coexist in none other than one of the world’s most culturally diverse cities. At present the resort has not seen a large influx of guests with the intention of visiting EXPO 2020, but we expect to see this number increase as the weeks progress and the weather cools down.
What novelties shall we be expecting at Anantara The Palm Resort for the rest of the year?
Festive joy and celebrations are fast approaching and Anantara the Palm Dubai invites guests to indulge in lavish seasonal feasts at our luxury seafront haven. Guests who visit for Christmas or New Year will be treated to the cheer of the season. Celebrants can savour banquets of holiday delicacies from around the world with fantastic live entertainment in all our dining outlets. In more recent news, the resort has recently reopened its all-day-dining Venue Crescendo with a brand-new refreshed look.
The venue’s famous Fork & Cork brunch has returned providing a Friday feast that’s fine-tuned to tantalise your taste buds at Anantara’s brimming brunch. Additionally, a few of the resort rooms are undergoing a beautification process to allow guests a more refined experience.
Lastly, the resort’s sustainability initiatives including a new water-bottling system providing fresh filtered water daily, that aims to save over 1 million plastic bottles consumed. We are constantly seeking innovative methods to improve our overall guest experience.
