Belmond Hotels, formerly Orient-Express Hotels, has recently confirmed its first luxury hotel property in London. Belmond has signed a management agreement with Cadogan Estates Limited to operate The Cadogan, a 64-room hotel on Sloane Street in the upscale Chelsea neighbourhood of London.
The Cadogan, originally built in 1887, is closing at the end of this month to undergo a $48 million renovation that will completely transform the public areas and maximize the space individual guest rooms. The room count will actually drop down to 54 rooms. A gourmet dining experience will also be added, opening out onto Sloane Street and with views of Cadogan Place gardens. GA Design International and their London team will be responsible for the interior design work. When the property reopens in Summer 2016, it will be re-branded as Belmond Cadogan.
