Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts is delighted to introduce the first ever Symposia Mixology Event. Comprising six two-night events that will take place between March and October 2019, the Symposia will bring six of the world’s top bartenders – as named by The World’s 50 Best Bars – to Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts bars around the world. At each destination, a special guest bartender from the 50 Best list will share six unique cocktail recipes, each one inspired by a single Bvlgari Hotel property.
At each two-day programme event, the guest barman will prepare and introduce to the guests all six of the exclusive cocktails and mocktails that he will create taking inspiration from the six cities where the Bvlgari Hotels are located: Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Dubai, Bali and Milan.
On the same night the guest barman will unveil the name of each cocktail created for the occasion and from the following day this limited edition Symposia drink menu will be available at each bar for one month.
The barmen represent an extraordinary calibre of talent, as evidenced by their inclusion in The World’s 50 Best Bars list.
Shanghai will host the first event, kicking off the series on 30th – 31st March with Nick Wu and Hidetsugu Ueno from Tokyo’s Bar High Five and other spots. Partners in Bangkok’s Locker Room, each brings years of experience to his craft and is the winner of multiple industry accolades.
The Beijing event comes next, from 17th – 18th May, and will host bartender José Luis Léon, who owns Mexico City’s Licorería Limantour, which is #11 on the list of 50 best bars. Léon has made a name for himself in his home country of Mexico but his style is international; he has visited 30 countries in his quest to experience the latest techniques and tastes in the world of mixology.
The Symposia comes to Milan 21st – 22nd June. There, the guest bartender is Kris Du from Shanghai’s Speak Low. Raised in China, he brings a culinary sensibility and refined palate to his cocktail recipes, infusing each creation with rare sophistication and, often, Eastern flavours.
The Bali event follows on 23rd – 24th August, with bartender Jad Ballout. The owner of Beirut’s Central Station bar, he established a new concept with his Middle Eastern-Mediterranean influenced cocktails. He brings an international approach to his recipes, scouring the globe for outstanding flavours and techniques.
On 11th – 12th October, the Symposia will land in Dubai, where the guest host will be Luca Cinalli from London’s Oriole Bar. Originally from Abruzzo, Italy, Cinalli has been in London since 2006 and won a number of awards for his innovations behind the bar.
The last installment of the Symposia will be Tokyo on 25th – 26th October, and will feature the mixology of Cyprus’ Dinos Constantinides. The winner of multiple awards throughout his career, Constantinides has also acted as a judge in cocktail competitions around the world.
Dario Schiavoni, Bar Director of the Bvlgari Hotel Beijing curated the initiative and will host each event, partnering with the guest bartenders during the 2night Symposia event in each Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts destination to bring a unique, distinctive vision to each occasion.
