Opening in December 2020, Capella Hanoi is a 47-bedroom boutique hotel designed by Bill Bensley. A celebration of Opera, Capella Hanoi was conceptualised to be a Petite Auberge during the halcyon days of opera. Just mere steps away from the iconic Hanoi Opera House, this coveted palace of revelry is, what could have been, the rendezvous spot for opera’s greatest artists, singers, composers, stage and costume designers after the final curtain call.
Each suite within the spellbinding property is individually designed to reveal tales of the mischievous opera society – told through over a thousand pieces of operatic memorabilia and custom portraiture art by prolific artist Kate Spencer. Guests can expect to find a curation of set designs, opera costumes and vintage tableware decorating the hotel, including its signature restaurant, Backstage, as well as the sophisticated art-décor salon, Diva’s Lounge.
Located in a tranquil neighbourhood in Hanoi’s prestigious Hoàn Kiếm quarter, Capella Hanoi has been developed by one of Vietnam’s most renowned real estate investors, Sun Hospitality Group. For Capella Hotels and Resorts, choosing Hanoi was a strategic decision as the destination’s centuries-old architecture, fascinating history and distinct cuisine are very much aligned to the group’s visionary curation of culture and experience.
Nicholas Clayton, CEO of Capella Hotel Group said, “We’re looking forward to joining forces with Sun Hospitality Group to help establish their vision in Vietnam’s capital by working together to introduce Capella Hanoi in the city’s most prestigious locale. From Capella Hotels and Resorts’ perspective, it’s a fabulous opportunity for us to continue our growth, bringing Capella’s unique offerings and cultural experiences as we establish a presence in Vietnam.”
Capella Hanoi is a stone’s throw away from some of the most impressive historic landmarks including “Temple of the Jade Mound” and the French Quarter, with the Hanoi Opera House in its centre. Celebrating the hotel’s privileged location and its community are our Capella Culturist who will orchestrate a unique Capella Curates programme that offers a glimpse into the soul of Hanoi.
Mr. Dang Minh Truong (Dr. Chang), Chairman of Sun Group Board of Directors said,”This is Sun Group’s first luxury hotel to open in the capital and we are excited to partner with Capella Hotel Group. Capella’s dedication to service excellence and expertise in creating memorable cultural experiences will cement Capella Hanoi’s position as a preferred place to stay for the refined and affluent traveller who seeks unparalleled luxury. Together with Bill Bensley, we have created a unique design, with attention to the smallest of details, to ensure the hotel’s architecture blends in perfectly with the elegant surroundings of Hoàn Kiếm quarter.”
