After a phase of intensive expansion and renovation work, the Cartier boutique in Vienna shines in new splendor. In total, the renovation of the listed building in Vienna’s historic center created a sales area of over 329 square meters. Particular attention was paid to incorporating local craftsmanship. Decorative objects from the renowned Augarten porcelain factory and the Viennese trading house Lobmeyr were integrated, while lamps from the local company Woka bathe the rooms in warm light.
The Parisian interior designer and architect Laura Gonzalez, who was responsible for the redesign of the Vienna boutique, has already designed the Cartier locations in Stockholm and Paris. She says about Vienna: “The boutique was conceived as an immersion in a plant universe reminiscent of the Austrian meadows and gardens of a thousand flowers painted by Klimt. This is a direct reference to Viennese art culture and is in harmony with the flora and fauna of Cartier creations.”
The renovation of the ground floor is an ode to the flair of the opera city. Cartier commissioned Atelier Fey and macrame artist Laurentine Périlhou to create a monumental decorative panel for the reopening. The panther, the brand’s emblem, was chosen as the motif because of its inseparable connection to Cartier’s style and history. The studios were inspired by a “Panthère Haute Joaillerie” necklace, which stands in a floral landscape on a subtle background of silk-like paper.
The ensemble references the traditional vegetation of Austria and embodies the artistic inspiration of the Viennese art world, particularly that of the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. The first floor, inspired by the golden era of Viennese coffee culture in the 1920s, invites you to linger in a traditional ambience. A sophisticated place that becomes a real rendezvous.
The second floor focuses on craftsmanship and displays classics from Cartier fine and high jewelry in an elegant Art Deco atmosphere. “We are very pleased that by enlarging and renovating the boutique we will be able to showcase Cartier’s extraordinary brand world even better in its versatility and thus offer our customers an even more exclusive shopping experience,” says Alexis de Laporte, Managing Director Cartier Northern Europe
