Cartier has presented Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Day & Night watch ahead of SIHH 2018 in Geneva. The new timepiece t is inspired by the iconic Mystery Clocks by Cartier produced in early 1910s. <The new model puts a modern spin on the original Mystery model, produced in 1912, and features the Day & Night function designed for the first time in the same year. Two versions of the watch will be available in 18K white and the other one in pink gold. It has a 40mm gold case along with the brand’s signature design detail in the form of cabochon blue sapphire winding crown.
In the watch, the dial’s center is finished with circular Guilloché motif, while the outer part carries a dark brown tone with Sun Beam pattern. The retrograde style minute display is located at the bottom half of the dial and it’s read by a lone bright blue steel hand punctuating the dial. Top half of the dial is where the mystery and Day & Night features are placed. The mystery display uses a pair of indicators, one depicting the sun and one depicting the moon, to show the slow movement of the day and night along a 12-hour scale and appear to be floating without being connected to the center. The watch is powered by the brand’s in-house movement Caliber 9982 MC and the hand-wound movement is capable of providing 48 hours of power reserve. The Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Day & Night is priced at $63,000 and will be available for sale next year.
