Christian Louboutin’s love for India has now translated into a unique marketing approach to conquer the market and secure a leading position among Western luxury shoemakers. During the recent 2015 edition of India Couture Week, French footwear designer Christian Louboutin and Kolkata-based designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee delivered a spectacular collection entitled ‘The Bater Couture 2015’, named after one of the most common hunting birds of India.
The collection included saris draped over jackets, short dresses, long maxi dresses, skirts and trousers, capes, bandhgalas teamed up with shawls, sherwanis and Nehru jackets.
Speaking about this unique collaboration, Louboutin said: “It was a very beautiful collection. Of course, I knew the work of Sabyasachi but I had never attended his show. To me it was a great experience. I barely attended any Indian fashion show and I loved the set and outfits. It was exactly the way things were done in Paris,”
Usually, every fashion show in India is closed by a show stopper either from Bollywood or Indian Cricketer, to which Sabyasachi replied: “Me and Christian have a lot of friends in Bollywood. But let me tell you something, he has dressed up some of the beautiful women in the world and I think for me he was the showstopper.”
