Opening later this autumn, five-star all-suite hotel Corinthia Bucharest was once known as the Grand Hôtel du Boulevard which originally opened in 1865 . The historical landmark palace building has been carefully restored to its original grandeur by owning company Niro Group. The hotel will boast 30 suites, a dining concept by SASS’ Café Monaco, a lounge, a grand ballroom and state-of-the-art spa and fitness facilities.
SASS’ Café will be operated by Eye Management and it will feature live entertainment. Niro Group is a diversified holding company acting in several fields. In the hospitality sector, Niro Group is also developing a new luxury resort in the Maldives and the Swissotel Bucharest (operated by Accor) – both expected to open in 2025. Corinthia Bucharest has been under renovations and restorations for over 11 years.
Bucharest’s five-star hotel market has been heavily impacted by the Covid 19 pandemic which climaxed years of a challenging economical and political context. Corinthia Bucharest’s direct competitors include Athenee Palace Intercontinental (franchised property), Radisson Blu Bucharest, The Marmorosch (Autograph Collection), Epoque Hotel (Relais & Chateaux), Suter Palace and JW Marriott Grand Bucharest.
Malta-based Corinthia Hotels will operate Corinthia Bucharest under a third party management agreement. Corinthia Hotels operates five-star hotel properties in London, Budapest, Lisbon, Malta (2), St Petersburg and Tripoli. Corinthia Group owns all the existing chain the properties. New openings have been announced for New York, Brussels, Rome, Riyadh, Maldives and Malta.
