Hotel Eden (Dorchester Collection) is set to reopen in Rome this April, following a renovation that will blend contemporary features with the property’s original, classic Roman style. Bruno Moinard of Paris-based firm 4BI & Associates led the redesign of guestrooms and lobby, while Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku from fellow Parisian firm Jouin Manku installed a new urban spa and refreshed the onsite dining options.
Gold ceilings will welcome guests to the lobby, and soft lighting and bright stucco-marble walls will add warmth. Back, white, and gray marble flooring offer a contemporary touch, while the reception desk and main lobby lounge will exude a more authentic Roman design with two large steel desks and a large fresco above the lounge fireplace.
High ceilings and tall windows that frame the Roman skyline define the 98 guestrooms and suites. Sleek bathrooms will be decorated with white and gold as well as mosaics, marble vanities, walk-in showers, and a separate bath. Once home to actor Ingrid Bergman, the Aurora Terrace suite boasts a spacious outdoor terrace that includes a private maze-like garden, fountain, and dining area for up to 10 people. The presidential suite will convey modern elegance with architectural details and hardwood flooring. The suite’s rooftop location also offers unmatched city views through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Upgraded dining options will include the modern Mediterranean option La Terrazza on the top floor; Il Giardino, which features a secret garden and open terrace; the classic Il Bar; and La Libreria, which features a wood-burning fireplace.
Designed with dimmed lighting, warm interiors, and vaulted ceilings, the new spa will accommodate four suites, a blow-dry bar, and manicure-pedicure spaces. Event spaces will include the 1,000-square-foot Salsa Borghese, which boasts high ceilings with scenographic lighting, crimson walls, custom furniture, and other modern features.
