Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris is hosting a unique exhibition that gathers the works of some of the art world’s most prominent names including Monet, Matisse, Picasso and Van Gogh. As the exhibition name suggests – Icons of Modern Art: The Shchukin Collection – the masterpieces are part of the extensive private collection of Russian art collector and aficionado, Sergei Shchukin.
Having introduced himself into the exclusive arts circle in the late 19th century, Shchukin became close to not only respected art dealers but the artists themselves and over time, amassed one of the most vibrant collections of impressionist, post-impressionist and modern art. For this special exhibition, Fondation Louis Vuitton has partnered with Hermitage Museum and the Pushkin State Museum to bring over 130 significant works by the master artists.
Icons of modern art: The Shchukin Collection will run from October 22 until February 20 at Fondation Louis Vuitton.
