As part of our ongoing series of interviews dedicated to high jewellery, CPP-LUXURY.COM has recently spoken to Jacob Arabo, the Founder and CEO of ultra-luxury jeweller and watchmaker Jacob&Co.
How did your company perform in 2018 and what are your expectations for 2019?
I’m delighted to say together with the help of my amazing ream we have managed to continue to grow the demand for our business. We’re planning to continue our worldwide expansion.
For watches you have often partnered with sports celebrities as brand ambassadors? Do you have the same strategic approach with ladies for watches and/or jewellery?
We utilize the same strategic approach when we plan our female campaigns for both watches and jewelry.
How has your approach towards product development changed (if in any way) in the recent years? (jewellery) Are there any specific trends you could highlight in jewellery? Do your collections already include jewellery pieces which are ‘statement’ or ‘easily recognisable’?
I’m always looking for inspiration when it comes to designing new collection pieces-especially for jewelry. I like designing/producing trendy and unique pieces. The existing jewelry pieces highlight both “statement” and are “easily recognizable”. The Jezebel and Lace Collection for example are recognizable Jacob & Co. pieces.
To what extent consumers are still regarding jewellery as an investment?
In our experience, most consumers buy jewelry because of the love of the piece. However, consumers also know that Jacob & Co. jewelry historically increases in value.
What is your approach towards e-commerce?
I like the idea of e-commerce and believe it creates more opportunities for sales. We are currently creating an innovative website in preparation for the future.
How has been social media improving and/or challenging your business?
Social media has definitely helped our sales growth and increase brand awareness. It’s an excellent marketing tool.
Are there any particular international markets with potential, that you consider expanding to? Do you expand with DOS or franchising?
Our intention is to be a global brand in the not so distant future.
What is nowadays the returning customer profile of Jacob&Co?
Someone who wants to purchase something sophisticated, trendy, which is unique and luxurious.
Is the brand awareness and/or positioning different from the U.S. compared for example to the Middle East?
Yes it is different due to the fact that the Middle Eastern clients are not shy about making bold statements with their luxury pieces.
What novelties should we expect in 2019?
We are working on fun and exciting projects/collaborations-stay tuned for further updates coming soon.
