Fully owned and operated by the privately owned R Collection Hotels, Grand Hotel Victoria‘s historical villa was originally built in 1890 and first opened in 1892. The 19th century villa which has a stunning front Lake Como location had been restored featuring a bright contemporary interior design. Between 2018 and 2021 a brand new modern building was built at the back of the historical villa, adding 81 rooms and suites. Of the resulted total number of accommodations, a third continue to have frontal lake view.
With the new building, a brand new luxury Spa & gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pools (both heated) as well as a multi-brand boutique have been built, along with superbly manicured gardens. A new glass domed gourmet restaurant has recently been opened (1827 Restaurant), adding to the main all-day-dining restaurant (Lago Restaurant) and Manzoni Bar located at the original historical villa. The expansive lobby area features generous sitting areas as well a large Front Office and Concierge – which are located in the historical villa.
The Erre Spa covers 1,200 m2 with a 20-meter indoor swimming pool. The Spa was built in collaboration with Starpool company, a global leader in producing wellness and spa facilities for over 45 years. The Grand Hotel Victoria SPA follows the longitudinal development of the large 20-meter pool lying in the centre to celebrate the regenerating power of water and as a tribute to Lake Como. In addition to two different types of Turkish baths, the sauna and the emotional showers, customers have at their disposal an ice room.
Aromas and essences spread among the vapours of the Mediterranean and steam baths while the precious wood of the two saunas offers a body warmth. The Himalayan salt room rebalances the vital energies and the Ice Room invigorates the body muscles. A total comfort zone in the Lake silent room and in the Fire room composed of a four-meter fireplace, modern chaise long and of enveloping cocoons to lull the thoughts.
The 1827 restaurant is a great place to enjoy innovative and contemporary flavours within a charming setting that combines the Grand Hotel Victoria’s refinement with sophisticated dishes and gourmet pizza. The Lago restaurant is a place to immerse yourself in history and art, with its apex in the most iconic recipes of Executive Chef Martin Vitaloni, a multi-sensory path capable of satiating the most demanding of palates.
The environment promotes the marriage between the rich decoration of the spaces and the modern open kitchen: an atmosphere of winter garden of early 1800 with the comfort of a contemporary bistro with the innovative cellar showcasing exposed wines. Bar Manzoni is characterised by luxury furnishings surrounded by greenery that offer a stunning view of Lake Como. The bar offers a relaxing and intimate atmosphere making it an excellent spot for a coffee, a drink or evening aperitif.
Grand Hotel Victoria is located along the shores of Lake Como and most importantly a couple of steps away from the heart of the charming village of Menaggio. Guests can enjoy a picturesque walk along the pedestrian promenade to reach the piazzawhere to find restaurants, bars, gelateria or do some shopping at the local boutiques. Grand Hotel Victoria also features its own private access by boat and offers private transfer or tour service thanks to its Erre Water Limousine.
