Hublot has debuted their new Big Band watch and it’s making quite the statement with its 13+ carats of diamonds. But they’ve already decided how they want their extravagant watch to be styled and that’s why Hublot has collaborated with Karmaloog to create a leather jacket that acts as a companion piece to the watch.
The Big Bang Tourbillon Croco High Jewelry watch is set with an astonishing 380 baguette cut diamonds that are precisely placed to resemble scales. These glittering gems cover the 45mm white gold case, the dial and the clasp, in a layout of size and shape carefully designed to recreate the pattern of crocodile skin. On the dial 102 baguette diamonds glitter away spotlighting an aperture at 6 o’clock opening onto the crowning glory of the movement – a self-winding calibre HUB6016 movement, with a power reserve of 115 hours.
Meanwhile the accompanying bomber jacket is made from crocodile leather and features a unique lining comprised of a material developed using the latest technology to add protection without bulk. Called Carbon aramid fabric and made possible by multiple layers of finely woven carbon nanotube fabrics, this material can supposedly withstand and absorb the impact of powerful projectiles.
While we wouldn’t recommend testing that claim, there are there are other things to love about it. The jacket’s zip closures can be personalized thanks to a set of three jewelry sliders. The main slider at the front is 18 carats white gold and paved with diamonds combined with a slider crafted in white gold and two side pocket sliders all in the shape of an H (for Hublot), these sliders are interchangeable with the recognizable Karmaloog sliders hand crafted in 18 carat white gold.
These zip sliders are also available for the secret inside pocket fitted within the jacket. The lining features four notches designed to house two watch straps. Karmaloog added this design feature as the sleeve of the jacket is equipped with Hublot’s patented “One Click” device enabling the watch face to be attached directly to the sleeve cuff of this jacket, so that the watch can be admired by all. When the jacket is taken off the wearer can bring their choice of straps with them. With one click the watch can be moved from the jacket to the wrist thanks to the One Click system developed by Hublot.
The custom watch and jacket are available for $1 million.
