Port de Sóller is a village and the port of the town of Sóller, in Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, Spain. Along with the village of Fornalutx and the hamlet of Biniaraix they combine to form Sóller. A tramway links the inland town of Sóller to Port de Sóller, running along the beach-side road. Soller is unique compared to towns on the rest of the island due to its geographical isolation, being surrounded by the Tramuntana mountain range (declared UNESCO World Heritage site)
Probably one of the most exclusive destinations in Spain but also in Europe, the iconic Port Soller could not be more authentic and genuine, uniquely blending the grandeur of the marina which welcomes some of the most spectacular luxury super-yachts with traditional architecture and small streets. There is a unique ‘laid-back’ feel, which makes one pause and relax. Every single corner of Soller is a unique gem, with picture perfect captures. Tourism is complemented by citrus and olive groves, being known for their exceptional quality.
The heavenly Port Soller is home to The Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa which is an architectural marvel, impressively built on a cliff overlooking Port Soller. It is surrounded by the lush Tramuntana Mountains. The hotel is only three kilometres away from the town of Soller and 35 kilometres from Palma’s airport.
Comprising 121 rooms (26 suites and 96 rooms), Jumeirah Port Soller guest can enjoy uninterrupted sea-views but also breathtaking mountain views for those staying at least 2 nights, I would high suggest two nights in each side – sea & mountains. Whether at sun-set or sun-rise the views are almost impossible to put into words and the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors. The many accommodations which feature large balconies are the ideal setting for a romantic dinner, but also a breakfast can be most unique.
Rooms and suites feature a contemporary style, a sense of understated elegance which cannot compare with the magnificent views. Most of the bathrooms feature a floor to ceiling window, with abundant natural light, overlooking the balcony. The free-standing large bathtubs are a superb opportunity for an indulgent bubble bath as you soak up the luxuriate views. Showers are open with a beautiful marble wall. Suites feature Bvlgari bathroom amenities from the White Tea collection.
Exceptional attention has been paid to the quality of finishes, the product being very well maintained although the property only operates 5 months per year. Air-Conditioning is a major plus – probably the most silent I have ever experience, the desired temperature is reached within a few second. Beds are heavenly comfortable with high-thread satin cotton – thick Egyptian cotton towels complement the bed linen. You will love the large walk-in wardrobe, all with built-in wood.
Guests can dip into the mind-blowing outdoor infinity pool, which boasts stunning views of the sea and the mountains. You may spend an entire day lounging and sunbathing while having a light meal as well as a delicious selection of ice-creams. The breath-taking experience at any time of the day.
The entire resort covers 18,000m2 and is surrounded by garden walks and internal passageways surrounded by natural rock and native vegetation. Its flat roofs are covered with plants and tall grass, which helps to ‘camouflage’ it into the surrounding forest area. Green spaces also integrate a wide range of flowers, creating a feast of colours. There is also a vertical garden which provides organic quality greeneries. Make sure you do not miss the home made mint ice-cream.
CapRoig is the main restaurant at the Jumeirah Port Soller, with all day dining. Despite pandemic restrictions, you will not miss the buffet breakfast, which has been exquisitely replaced by a wide selection brought to your table. There is also an a-la-carte menu for breakfast.
For lunch and dinner, CapRoig proposes delicious locally inspired dishes served on an open-air terrace, with sweeping views of Port Soller. The large outdoor terraces are proving to be a blessing for dining at the hotel during the pandemic which restricts ind-door dining. The Sunset Lounge also enjoys a generous open-air space, with a wide selection of sushi.
Jumeirah Group has sensibly conceived the resort to cater to a wide target segment, from couples seeking an intimate experience to families with children (there is a kids club and a second dedicated outdoor pool) but also corporate guests. There are extensive facilities for business events, with two event spaces each accommodating up to 120 participants. Once the pandemic eases, Jumeirah Port Soller will once again welcome the most sophisticated weddings.
Mention must also be made that Jumeirah Port Soller has firmly implemented the most extensive safety and hygiene measures against Covid-19, adding to the local legislation the expert measures which Jumeirah Group has been implementing thanks to a strategic agreement with third party expert company Bureau Veritas.
I was impressed not only the actual measures but the way in which staff have been trained to enforce – in an effortless manner while being very strict. Protective masks are worn by guests and staff alike in all public indoor spaces. Staff also wear masks while attending to guests at dining facilities, Spa and even the outdoor pool. Particular attention has been paid to the utmost safety in rooms, to protect both housekeeping staff and guests.
The hotel is taking exceptional measures to protect its guests from the moment they arrive at the international airport of Palma de Mallorca. All guests are advised to take a private transfer offered by the hotel, thus avoiding any risks of taking a random taxi or a ride share. The luxury limousine service which the hotel is contracting a professional company which uses mostly Mercedes-Benz S Class – each car being disinfected and the doors sealed.
During the pandemic, the hotel is an ideal sanctuary where guests can experience a wide array of activities, spending more time within the property – dining, Spa, wellness etc. The hotel also offers a shuttle to the Port Soller town with it own luxury van. The professional Concierge offers a wide range of exceptional experience especially bespoke boat tours around the island as well as larger yachts for day trips through the magical nature sceneries around Soller.
Service throughout the entire resort is genuinely caring, warm and intuitive. Each and every staff would address you by name and I also felt that I should remember their name. Overall, Gianluca Priori (GM) has put together a team which is perfectly synchronised and very well bonded.
