World’s leading luxury group, LVMH has announced it has entered with a majority stake in the capital of French fashion house of Maxime Simoens. The 28 year old French designer is a graduate of L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and has briefly worked at Dior, Gaultier and Balenciaga, while also heading the creative direction for one season at Léonard. Last month, Simoens presented its first couture collection in Paris at the invitation of the Chambre Syndicale. LVMH controls other niche luxury fashion brands such as Emilio Pucci, Celine and Givenchy.
Rival PPR Group acquired earlier this month the house of young British fashion designer Christopher Kane, one of the up and coming designers which has been making its mark at London Fashion Week. Besides designing for his own lable, Kane has had a notable collaboration with Versace, as creative director of the Versus line.
