Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona announces the addition of 17 luxurious suites and five additional rooms to its inventory, bringing the total room count to 120. Located in the modernist building adjacent to the hotel on the city’s most luxurious boulevard, Passeig de Gràcia, the rooms are all easily accessible via the main building. Each of the new rooms and suites range from 44 to 124 square metres.
The award-winning Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola who created the original hotel, was re-commissioned to create the décor for the new rooms, following the same avant-garde and cosmopolitan style that characterises the rest of the hotel.
In this latest concept, Urquiola expands on her ideas for the existing Presidential and Penthouse, creating a harmonious link throughout the property between avant-garde European tastes and traditional Orientalist styles. She has also introduced new interpretations of Catalan modernism in the hydraulic mosaics and art works commissioned exclusively for Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona.
The flagship Barcelona Suite has a 123 m2 terrace complete with an outdoor Jacuzzi and solarium. Superior suites have smaller private terraces or balconies, as well as a modular feature that includes work areas, dressing rooms and living spaces that can be reconfigured to cater to anything from private dinners to business meetings. Spacious bathrooms have an elegant, spa-like atmosphere enclosed within light, tinted opaque glass with enormous walk-in showers.
