On March 24th 2025, after a complete renovation, the heritage hotel The Westin Madrid will be rebranded as The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid featuring 470 rooms and suites. The property, which originally opened in 1912, as El Palace de Madrid, is owned by Archer Hotel Capital which also controls the Arts Hotel Barcelona which is operated by The Ritz-Carlton. Mr. Pablo Flores remains General Manager.
This will be the second Luxury Collection hotel in Madrid, Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel already having been established as one of the finest luxury hotels in the Spanish capital, in direct competition with the Four Seasons Madrid and the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid. Santo Mauro is privately owned by Antonio Catalán who founded AC Hotels, today part of Marriott International.
Marriott International also boasts JW Marriott Madrid, a superb luxury property which is a global flagship for the JW Marriott brand. JW Marriott opened in 2022 in an exquisite new building opposite the Four Seasons Madrid. It remains to be seen how The Palace will be able to compete at the same level, given that Santo Mauro also underwent a major renovation and it only features 51 rooms and suites.
