As part of the strategy initiated since the nomination of Chairman and CEO, Stéphane Valeri, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) has acquired the Palace des Neiges in Courchevel 1850 (previously known as Byblos). The five star property has been known as a luxury spa resort with expansive ski facilities.
After undergoing a major renovation, the hotel will regain its luxury status. The property boasts 78 rooms and suites, gourmet restaurant, spa with indoor heated swimming pool and 5 treatment rooms. It remains to be seen whether the accommodations inventory may be adjusted to enlarge smaller rooms.
SBM acquired the luxury resort from privately owned French group Alp’Azur Hotels which counts 12 ideally located three to five-star properties in the French Riviera (Saint-Tropez, Gassin, Port-Grimaud, Ramatuelle, La Croix-Valmer) and the French Alps (Courchevel, Méribel). Alp’Azur Hotels is controlled by the Guth family, being founded by René Guth.
The acquisition deal has been brokered by Joffray Vallat of Vallat Group.
