In an exclusive interview to CPP-LUXURY.COM, Nespresso’s Michelle McFaul, Vice President of Community Affairs and Special Events speaks about Nespresso‘s continued support for the US Polo Open, the most important polo event in the US and one of the top in the world.
Nespresso has been a sponsor of the US Open Polo, one of the biggest Polo competitions in the world. What has been the motivation behind the continued support for polo?
Since 2008 Nespresso has been a proud sponsor of the International Polo Club. This year we announced our continued support by becoming the title sponsor of the historic and prestigious Nespresso 108th U.S. Open Polo Championship; the perfect opportunity for us to debut our new Mobile Boutique to International Polo Club Members, as well as new Members of the Nespresso Club.
What are the positioning objectives your company has, when associating with polo?
The Ultimate Coffee experience for the Ultimate Polo Sport where both the players and horses are athletes.
Our passion for quality, innovation and exceeding the Polo community’s evolving expectations has been the driving force behind our continued presence at elite Polo events. Adding to that, the opportunity to share the Nespresso experience with existing and new Club Members.
Is Nespresso involved in other equestrian sports/horse events?
Yes, Nespresso has been a proud sponsor at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center for the past three years, The Hampton Classic in Bridgehampton, New York, The 2011 Commonwealth Games in Virginia, The 2012 Polo Season at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club in California, Mashomack Polo in Millbrook, New York, and The 2012 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in New York City and Los Angeles.
How important is your on-site presence at competitions such as the US Polo Open versus other media such as TV?
TV is a great opportunity to give consumers around the world a taste of what to expect from the Nespresso experience through the power of visual storytelling. On-site events like the Nespresso 108th U.S. Open Polo Championship at International Polo Club allows us to bring the Nespresso story to life for consumers with all their senses. The Nespresso Mobile Boutique at the Nespresso 108th U.S. Polo Open Championship, which debuted this year, provides a window into the heart of the Nespresso brand for the elite Polo community.
Do you plan to sponsor polo competitions in other markets?
While Nespresso North America sponsors Polo tournaments at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, The Hampton Classic in Bridgehampton, New York, The 2011 Commonwealth Games in Virginia, The 2012 Polo Season at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club in California, Mashomack Polo in Millbrook, New York, and The 2012 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in New York City and Los Angeles.
