Despite being housed within a lacklustre office building and despite the lack of a Spa or a Michelin star dining, Park Hyatt Zurich firmly established itself as a luxury market leader since opening both because of its very high and consistent service standards and its prime location within the commercial and financial district, steps from Old Town and other landmark attractions.
Although well maintained the product, especially rooms and suites started to feel dated. The hotel started a staged renovation during which it remained open and has exceptionally managed to built upon the understated interior design, adding a warm feel thanks to fabrics, lighting and colour palette. What is most impressive is the transformation of the suites, perfectly reflecting on the Park Hyatt DNA – ultimate comfort. The hotel’s superb bathrooms have also been improved and brand new amenities added.
Already, the hotel had a very quiet and serene environment, especially due to the fact that at the time the building was constructed, the highest quality materials and finishes were implemented – sound-proofing both outdoors and indoors and a very quiet and swift AC. Bed linens and mattresses have been enhanced, allowing for an exceptional sleeping experience.
The new suites at Park Hyatt Zurich were designed by interior designer Janice Clausen. They enchant with charm and unique exhibition pieces by renowned artists. The suites, resplendent with a new look, stand out with a pleasant atmosphere and offer maximum comfort at the same time. Technology has also been upgraded, from SmartTvs, high speed free internet and panel control switches.
Arts has always been part of the Park Hyatt DNA and the lobby is no exception. The hallways are adorned by many works of art, including sculptures and paintings. The arrival experience has been flawless and so are Front Office and Concierge (probably the most knowledgeable in Zurich).
The main dining venue of the hotel serves a delicious lavish buffet, proving that hotel buffets can be executed properly. The bar and the outside terrace are a major hit with local patrons, late evenings becoming entertaining.
All in all, this is an exceptional Park Hyatt property, ideal for both corporate and leisure guests who stay in Zurich but also ideal for a 2,3 night stop-over for those on the way to mountain resorts such as St Moritz (there are direct trains – Zurich train station is 7 minutes by car from the hotel.
