In keeping with the now traditional focus on art at Park Hyatt Hotels, the Park Hyatt Zurich is no exception. Park Hyatt Zurich is home to a selection of major art pieces, on display throughout the public spaces of the hotel. The highlight of all is the eye-catching Ingo Maurer ‘Porca Miseria!’ chandelier as its centrepiece.
The selection is themed by the hotel as “classic modern art”. There are a total of 91 pieces varying in size and form. Works are by notable artists such as Sol LeWitt, Heinz Mack, Gunther Uecker, Eduardo Chilliada, Piero Dorazio, Serge Poliakoff Hans Hartung, Ted Scapa, Ossip Zadkine and many others.
The newly redesigned Lobby of the hotel is undoubtedly a true living room of elite of the city, whether for a business meeting or simply enjoying a drink with friends. At any given time of the day, during my stay, the lobby lounge and bar was buzzing, much like the Onyx Bar which has established itself as a landmark of the city. The Onyx Bar is accessible from the hotel Lobby but also from its own dedicated street entrance (including an outdoor sitting area), makes its mark with the eye-catching authentic onyx stone with interior lighting.
The main restaurant of the hotel, parkhuus is known for its locally sourced meats and seasonal vegetables. You will love a Bison Tenderloin prepared on the wood-burning oven accompanied by an exquisit wine from the two-storey, 3,000 bottle wine library. Despite its sophisticated design, the mood is relaxed and warm. In Summer, the parkhuus offers seating outside, on the terrace.
Rooms and suites are among the largest in Zurich with lavish marble bathrooms. Exceptional features include: state-of-the art Bang&Olufsen Tv set with a large selection of channels and movies, custom-made Laura Tornato bathroom amenities (including bath salts and candles) and a heavenly comfortable beds with the finest Italian linen. I was pleased to learn the hotel’s rooms and suites will soon undergo an extensive renovation program, especially to update some of the aesthetic features.
The elegant and cozy Club Olympus Spa of the hotel features a wide range of beauty and wellness treatments, including dedicated men’s treatments. Among the highly reccommended treatments: a sophisticated facial ”Exclusive heavenly Hollywood treatment” and an Aromatherapy anti-stress massage with the hotel’s exclusive selection of essential oils. You can also treat yourself to a relaxing massage, a custom facial or a soothing manicure and pedicure, in the comfort and privacy of your hotel room.
Service throughout the entire hotel is of the highest standard – a perfectly tuned Swiss watch! Staff is very young, yet highly trained. Service is efficient, intuitive and personalized, all staff going out of their way to please guests. I was mostly impressed by the housekeeping and Concierge.
