The 27-year-old Peninsula Beijing is currently undergoing a massive renovation through Fall 2016. Its 525 guest rooms will be reconfigured into 230 more spacious accommodations that are decked out with the cutting-edge technology that the brand is known for. The Peninsula also plans to introduce some new restaurants and bars.
The Lobby Lounge and JING restaurant will be closed through May 2016; guestrooms, the shopping arcade, and Huang Ting restaurant will remain available during this period. The swimming pool is currently closed and a temporary location has been set up for the Spa.
The Peninsula is just a short walk from Tiananmen Square, surrounded by such landmarks as the Museum of Chinese History, the Great Hall of the People, and Mao’s mausoleum. The bustling Chaoyang commercial district (home to many of the foreign embassies) is just to the east, and the major shopping districts are also close at hand.
