Room Mate Hotels has unveiled its two latest locations in Barcelona with the Room Mate Anna in Passeig de Grácia and Room Mate Carla on Calle Mallorca, bringing the collection’s presence in the capital of Catalonia to four properties.
Situated in the Golden Square of Catalonian modernism, the 81-room Room Mate Anna—the brand’s new European flagship—is equipped with a dramatic terrace and a rooftop pool offering views of the Agbar Tower and Casa Batlló. Designs from Madrid-based Lorenzo Castillo convey a Mediterranean influence with colored marble flooring, wood panels, and metallic accents. Pops of turquoise, aquamarine, and coral hues are influenced by the Catalonian landscapes, creating a fresh aesthetic. Details like venetian blinds and slatted shutters honor the local architecture styles.
Architect Tomas Alía crafted the 88-room Room Mate Carla with an aesthetic inspired by the city’s iconic designs and incorporates industrial themes, including ceramics, trencadis mosaics, and Antoni Gaudí’s modernism. The lobby includes a scheme of bold blues, silvers, and taupes alongside bespoke armchairs and sofas in striking geometric shapes. The hotel’s front desk showcases an elaborate artwork crafted from multiple handmade, enameled ceramic pieces. A white palette defines guestrooms contrasts bright and bold tones in the headboards, walls, and rugs.
Two additional properties in Milan and Malaga debuted earlier this spring. The brand is planning to launch eight more properties in major European cities such as Rotterdam, Rome, Florence, Paris, and Madrid with a new American headquarters opened earlier this year in Miami.
