Iconic fashion couture house of Schiaparelli will open its first pop-up store dedicated to ready-to-wear and accessories in New York City, located in luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman. The new boutique is located on the fourth floor of the department store, and will open on October 18.
The new shop is the first Schiaparelli locale outside the brand’s Parisian Place Vendôme location since 1954. The brand said this partnership with Bergdorf Goodman “echoes the long-standing relationship” between the companies, which dates back to 1931.
The New York City salon will debut the Secret, the very first Schiaparelli handbag, as well as the “Schiaparelli & the Artists” book.
In addition, the new Schiaparelli boutique will host Story, the brand’s new ready-to-wear and accessories capsule collection series. Story #1 will honor founder Elsa Schiaparelli’s friend and collaborator Man Ray, and will feature a capsule of limited-edition clothes and accessories that “play with his original art yet give it an entirely new context,” the brand said.
The pop-up’s salon-style interior features walls painted with a view of Place Vendôme, wardrobe trunks displaying the brand’s clothes and accessories, and a replica of Jean-Michel Frank’s “La cage,” the decorative birdcage currently located in the original haute couture salon.
Bergdorf Goodman will place a Schiaparelli display, designed by senior director of visual presentation David Hoey and the Man Ray Trust, in its windows at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 58th Street. The brand said the display is designed to “highlight Schiaparelli prêt-à-couture with Man Ray artwork.”
The new pop-up boutique is the brand’s latest development since its re-launch in 2012.
Schiaparelli is owned by Diego della Valle, Chairman CEO of Tod’s Group.
