Opened in 2018, The Barcelona EDITION has positioned itself firmly among the luxury lifestyle hotels of Barcelona, with a unique downtown location and an expansive Food & Beverage opening. Rooms and suites reflect the DNA of the brand conceived by renowned architect and interior designer Ian Schrager – ultimate sophistication lies in utter simplicity, while understated can be very warm and welcoming.
The Barcelona EDITION is located in the city center, beside the Picasso Museum and the Barcelona Gothic Cathedral, adjacent to the Santa Caterina Market and steps away from Plaça de Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia and Barceloneta beach. More than 15 iconic Barcelona sights and historic landmarks are walking distance from the hotel, avoiding the need for any transportation while discovering Barcelona’s best kept secrets.
The hotel features 100 sleek contemporary rooms and suites with custom-made Le Labo bathroom amenities, a selection of rooms with stunning views over the iconic architectural masterpiece Santa Caterina Market roof, multiple connecting rooms for family travel and exclusive penthouse suites with private panoramic terraces and extended space. The quality of furnishings are finishes are flawless!
Rooms are adorned with walnut panelling, evocative of the shutters that dominate the old town’s narrow street facades and floors made of fresh whitened oak herringbone parquet. Embossed Spanish leather headboards, complete the exceptionally comfortable beds, with some of the finest high-thread linen I have ever come across at a luxury hotel. The sense of calm extends to the bathrooms, finished in white Sivec marble detailed with contrasting brass hardware.
From opening, the Barcelona EDITION became a favourite for locals too – a vibrant destination to see and be seen while enjoying one of the venues of the hotel, the roof-top being without any doubt an instant hit and a hot spot. The venues are: Bar Veraz (all day dining) with an outdoor terrace, a bespoke cocktail bar Punch Room (inspired by the same concept at The London EDITION) and the The Roof, a panoramic Mediterranean rooftop terrace for al-fresco all day dining and drinks, offering panoramic views of Barcelona. There is also a small plunge pool but the property has no Spa.
The dining offering is sensibly conceived to include many traditional local dishes, Barcelona also being known as a gastronomic destination. The quality of the locally sourced ingredients is exceptional and so are the quality and presentation of the food. For those seeking additional culinary experiences and not only, the Concierges are on hand to propose the most diverse activities and sightseeing that the city has to offer.
