The Lanesborough is one of the masterpiece properties in the Oetker Collection at one of London’s most enviable addresses. Overlooking Hyde Park Corner and adjacent to the grounds of Buckingham Palace, it is one of the city’s most iconic hotels commanding a prestigious location that straddles Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Mayfair.
Ahead of St Patrick’s Day on 17 March 2020, The Lanesborough’s Library Bar will celebrate the Patron Saint of Ireland in partnership with the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery, Bushmills. Irish whiskey reigned supreme over its Scottish rival during the first part of the 19th century, and the Bushmills distillery has continued its tradition of crafting superior whiskey since 1608 using 100% malted barley. The process of making Irish whiskey is very similar to its Scottish neighbour, bar distilling three times as opposed to twice.
Now, the Library Bar is letting the taste do the talking by giving its well-heeled guests the opportunity to compare Bushmills single malts against similar famous Scottish expressions with three delectable blind tastings, throughout this month in celebration of St Patrick’s Day.
Challenging drinkers to taste the difference between a great Bushmills expression and an equivalent Scottish Single Malt of the same age and method of maturation, available in 25ml measures – all blind tasting.
Renovated as part of the hotel’s acclaimed relaunch in 2015, the Library Bar offers a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the Central London. Dimmed lighting, grand surrounds, and the UK’s best cognac selection with bottles dating back to 1770, helps the Library exude old-world charm and treats guests to a truly unique evening experience.
One of the Capital’s most celebrated cocktail destinations, the Library Bar – distinguished by its outstanding mixology and venerable ‘liquid museum’ of spirits – offers the warm and intimate atmosphere of a private club accompanied by a vibrant ambiance that makes it a popular choice with both well-heeled locals and hotel guests.
