Villa Kennedy, a Rocco Forte Hotel, welcomes the addition of four new Signature Suites designed by Olga Polizzi, Director of Design for Rocco Forte Hotels. Each suite, named after an iconic figure from the 60s: Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe, portrays their individual identities throughout the design that is reminiscent of the Kennedy era – timeless and elegant like Jackie, striking and classic like JFK.
Designed with John F. Kennedy’s historic 1963 visit to Frankfurt in mind, Olga Polizzi has used her inimitable taste to select and bring together unique and local pieces from renowned German artisans to give each suite character and charm while creating a sense of place; an idea which is intrinsic to the Rocco Forte Hotels design ethos. Of the project, Olga Polizzi says: “I’m so delighted with the new suites at Villa Kennedy, the warm colours of the German materials I used capture the light so very beautifully. We also worked with local craftsmen on the flooring and much of the furniture so the suites really do have a strong sense of place.”
Upon entering, each Signature Suite has a foyer leading into well-appointed sitting rooms with wooden floors made of timber from the Bavarian forest. The focal point of the rooms, the hand-made bookcases by local artisan, Lenz, are stocked with a mix of English and German literary classics. Family-run Zimmer + Rhode, one of Germany’s leading textile manufacturers, has provided the upholstery fabrics used throughout the refurbishment as well as the high armchairs. The high ceilings and abundance of natural daylight creates a bright and airy space while the bespoke wallpaper by British textile designers, Christopher Farr, provide a residential feeling of cosiness.
In keeping with Kennedy’s true sense of style, the bedrooms exude understated elegance. Curtains by Jab Anstoetz, a top German textile creator, adorn the floor to ceiling windows complementing the bright and characterful wallpaper, giving the rooms an extra layer of depth. All the Signature Suites’ bedrooms have a bespoke grey and white hounds tooth designed rug that provides a subtle nod to the stylish 60s era from The Rug Company, designers who are known for their creative brilliance in designing original pieces. The bedrooms’ walk in closets lead into the generous sized bathrooms equipped with walk in showers, underfloor heating and mosaic design details throughout.
Known for its modern design, classic detail and state-of-the-art amenities, Villa Kennedy has combined the best of old and new to create the four new Signature Suites. In naming the suites, Olga Polizzi commented, “I was inspired by the glamour of the 60s and the icons who helped shape history. JFK, Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe all contributed their own signature style to the decade and each of their individual identities are established in the design of the suites through subtle details using their imagery and characteristics throughout. ”
Villa Kennedy’s Signature Suites are available starting from €2,700 per night.
The Villa Kennedy is the first of three Rocco Forte Hotels in Germany and is situated on the Kennedyallee on the south bank of the River Main in Frankfurt.
