The more amenities that are offered, the better value your next apartment/condo will be. Look for things like a pool, gym, gathering area, party space, playground, and community events. If you live on a higher floor, then you should also check for an elevator and ask how often maintenance is done to keep it running smoothly.

If you have a pet, then it’s crucial to ask if animals are allowed and what fees are charged for them living there. If you don’t have pets, this is still an important question to ask because it can impact noise levels. Dog-friendly apartments, in particular, can be very noisy when dogs bark at people walking around in hallways.

When maintenance is needed in your rental, it’s crucial to have a property manager who will get someone out right away. Discuss this with the rental agent and verify what they tell you in the contract before you sign.
