RIMOWA’s newly reimagined Madison Avenue store is redefining what luxury retail can feel like. Now the brand’s largest outpost in the Americas, the space has been brilliantly expanded and rethought in partnership with New York design studio Porto, resulting in an experience that’s both beautifully refined and deeply functional. Think: German modernism softened by subtle curves, matte finishes, and tactile textures that let RIMOWA’s iconic grooved suitcases take center stage.
For the first time ever, the building’s landlord allowed a custom façade — and RIMOWA made it count. The grooved entrance is not only instantly recognizable, it cleverly addresses the notoriously brutal Madison Avenue wind tunnel, welcoming guests with a sense of quiet intimacy. Inside, it’s a masterclass in thoughtful retail design: textured floors let you test your suitcase wheels with ease, tables adjust to your height, and an installation wall of molded suitcases nods to the brand’s artful, industrial DNA.

But it’s not just about aesthetics alone. Featured archival pieces include a suitcase that survived a plane crash and another that passed through Ellis Island. These are relics of real-life journeys, and the store gives them the reverence they deserve. There are also signature items, like a monogrammed, limited-edition case.
RIMOWA’s redesigned Client Care area feels less like a tech counter and more like a luxury atelier. Bathed in warm woods and thoughtful lighting, it invites you in rather than pushing you to wait — and the technicians who restore your well-traveled luggage feel more like artisans than repair staff. It’s a quiet celebration of craftsmanship, resilience, and timeless design.
