Situated in Sao Paulo’s Vila Olímpia neighbourhood, the new W hotel and residences occupy a soaring tower designed by local practice aflali/gasperini arquitetos. The architectural concept was driven by connection—between public and private, urban and intimate, global and local. At ground level, the open-block layout invites pedestrians to cross between Rua Funchal and Rua Helena through a lush landscaped path designed by landscape architect Benedito Abbud, where restaurants and social areas blur the boundaries between city and architecture.
The same pavement used on the sidewalks extends into the interiors, creating an intriguing spatial continuity. The tower’s first 23 floors are occupied by W Residences. Mind you, there are a total of 216 units, and these come in various sizes, ranging from 53 (570 sq.ft.) to 102 sqm. (1,098 sq.ft.).

The residences come with plush leisure areas including a pool, gym, and social lounges with sweeping city views. On the 24th floor sits the W São Paulo hotel reception area, in addition to the Yōso Bar + Café where Japanese mixology meets the city’s unique urban energy, and Baio, a gourmet restaurant celebrating Southern Brazil’s eclectic culinary heritage in a spectacular, elegant setting up in the sky.
The upper floors of the building accommodate 179 guest rooms, including 16 suites, all inspired by the city’s colours, textures, and sounds. Needless to say, the rooms meet all the requirements of today’s savvy traveller. The interior design by Portuguese designer Nini Andrade Silva takes cues from Brazilian motifs, places them in the context of a contemporary, international viewpoint, but remains very much São Paulo.
The 40th floor boasts a sky pool with spectacular views of São Paulo’s skyline, but is also home to L40 Cozinha de Latitude, a more casual dining spot serving a cosmopolitan menu of bites, paired with cocktails and live music and DJ sets.
