BVLGARI HOTELS announces the appointment of Jean-Christophe Babin as new CEO. After a 22 year tenure, Jean-Christophe Babin is exiting BVLGARI în 2026, nevertheless, he has been confirmed to head the hospitality business of the group in a newly created role of CEO. Since its inception in 2001, Bvlgari Hotels has been headed by Silvio Ursini, Senior Vice President of Bvlgari – it is unclear whether Ursini will maintain the same position but with new responsibilities
Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts is a joint venture between Marriott International and Bvlgari. The company has no stake in the ownership of any of the properties. All properties are operated under third party management agreements (except Bvlgari Paris which is franchised), with Marriott International overseeing all operations except Public Relations / Media which is directly controlled from a unit within Bvlgari’s headquarters in Rome.
By contrast, Bvlgari’s parent company LVMH also controls Cheval Blanc and Belmond but most properties are predominantly owned by LVMH. Belmond in London and Porto Cervo are operated under management and are not owned by LVMH. Cheval Blanc Dubai is the first property of Cheval Blanc Hotels which will be operated in management.
Under the tenure of Silvio Ursini, Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts has had an impressive trajectory, with hotels boasting outstanding product and service standards. Ursini has also been succeeding in delivering exceptional consistency and coherence across the entire chain, with a very powerful brand identity for Bvlgari Hotels, which is one of the most desirable, sought-after and admired luxury hotel brands in the world.
Bvlgari Hotels is so much more than an extension of Bvlgari. It reflects a unique Bvlgari lifestyle, deeply Italian – bold, glamorous and a positioning which is mostly hard luxury. With 9 properties, Bvlgari Hotels competes directly with Dorchester Collection and Oetker Hotels. Without a background in hospitality, Jean Christophe Babin will have to not only maintain the strategic path of Bvlgari Hotels but also seek innovation and ways to establish new trends.
