Manolo Blahnik is opening of its first boutique in Beijing, inside Shin Kong Place (SKP) that it says is “one of China’s most prestigious and luxurious shopping destinations”. It’s only the second Mainland China boutique for the indie luxe footwear and accessories brand, following the debut of its Shanghai store in November 2024. It’s also the label’s very first boutique in Northern China.
Its new home is among SKP’s curated mix of international luxury big names with the firm saying it “reflects the brand’s continued commitment to the Chinese market”. The company now has 21 stores globally, and as mentioned, it remains a resolutely independent British brand. Blahnik is still very involved with the company that’s now run by his niece, CEO Kristina Blahnik. The professionally trained architect said she and the team worked in tandem with Shanghai based spatial design specialist BYB Vision on realising the Beijing SKP boutique.
The space was inspired by a concept initially used in the Manolo Blahnik boutique in London’s Burlington Arcade “echoing a ‘living room’ style, which Blahnik spaces are renowned for”.The new space features a geometric design as its focal point alongside minimalist and modern flooring, created in China. The space will also have “accents of beautiful furniture designed by Beijing based designer Chen Darui in vivid colours and includes a dynamic sketch wall, allowing guests to discover a myriad of different brand content”.
