What inspired you to establish a luxury hotel property?
Timisoara has always had a refined cultural identity, but for many years it lacked a true luxury hospitality experience aligned with international standards. My vision was to create a property that reflects European elegance while delivering deeply personalized service. I wanted to build not just a hotel, but a destination — a place where architecture, gastronomy, design and service meet at the highest level.
Which have been the challenges but also the rewards of owning and running a luxury hotel property?
The biggest challenge is consistency. Luxury is not defined by décor alone — it is defined by precision, anticipation, and flawless service every single day. Recruiting, training and maintaining a team that lives these standards is demanding. The rewards, however, are extraordinary. Seeing guests return, celebrate milestones with us, or choose us as their first impression of Timisoara is deeply fulfilling. We are shaping how the city is experienced by international travelers.
Tell us more about the interior design / aesthetic of the property.
The design blends contemporary elegance with classical European influence. We are focused on symmetry, high-quality materials, and timeless color palettes — marble, warm metals, and rich textures. Our aim was to create spaces that feel grand yet intimate. Lighting plays a central role — soft, layered illumination that enhances atmosphere rather than overwhelms it. Every element was selected to communicate calm, refinement, and understated luxury.
How is Tresor Le Palais Hotel positioned in Timisoara’s luxury hotel sector?
Is there an impact from Timisoara being European Capital of Culture?
Absolutely. The Capital of Culture year significantly increased international visibility for Timisoara. We saw new markets discovering the city — cultural travelers, artprofessionals, and high-spending visitors who previously would not have considered this destination. More importantly, it permanently elevated the city’s image. The cultural positioning continues to benefit luxury tourism beyond the event itself.
What has been the evolution of rates?
Rates have followed both market maturation and service expansion. As Timisoara attracts more international demand and as we continue to refine our offering, pricing has gradually aligned with upper-tier European boutique hotels in emerging cultural cities. Revenue strategy today is dynamic, demand-driven, and strongly linked to events, seasonality, and international travel patterns
Many luxury hotels face competition from Airbnb and apartment rentals. How do you see this?
They operate in different emotional territories. Apartments provide space and autonomy — luxury hotels provide experience, service, security and consistency. Our response is not to compete on price, but to elevate value: concierge service, gastronomy, wellness, design, and curated guest journeys. True luxury is service-driven, and that cannot be replicated easily in private rentals.
Human resources remain a challenge after the pandemic. What has been your approach?
People are the essence of luxury hospitality. Our strategy focuses on three pillars:
• continuous professional development
• strong internal culture and recognition
• long-term career opportunities
We invest heavily in training and leadership development. Retention improves when employees feel they are building a profession, not just holding a job.
What motivated the choice to affiliate the hotel with Curio Collection by Hilton?
We wanted the best of both worlds — independence of character and global recognition.Curio Collection by Hilton allows us to preserve our identity, design and personality, while benefiting from worldwide distribution, loyalty programs, operational expertise and international trust. For guests, it guarantees standards. For us, it provides global reach without sacrificing individuality.
