Following Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Valentino, Prada will host next year its first cruise catwalk show. The Italian luxury house normally presents its pre-collection for women during its men’s shows in January and June, but has now decided to give its cruise collection its own separate catwalk.
The group led by Miuccia Prada has also been seduced by the fashionable trend for big brands these past few seasons, organizing cruise runways in iconic, spectacular settings to create a high-visibility event outside of the traditional fashion week calendar.
This first show featuring Prada’s 2018 cruise collection will be held on May 7 at the Fondazione Prada’s Osservatorio, an 800-square-meter space for photography and visual arts exhibitions. The exhibition hall was opened to the public last December and is located on the top floors of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
This historic 19th century Galleria, the connecting building between the Cathedral with the Scala Theater, is already home to two Prada stores, including a historical one.
