Located within Robertson Quay, a dynamic, sophisticated neighbourhood along the Singapore River, known for its wide range of dining options and arts houses, InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay boasts a unique residential, yet sleek concept which makes it a distinct InterContinental branded property. The neighbourhood is considered as the most up-and-coming destination in Singapore, within short distances from all quarters.
A re-brand of an older property, the InterContinental Robertson Quay has completely transformed the property, featuring a brand new product, utilizing the highest quality materials and finishes. The only downturn which is a remainder from the previous property is the small size of the rooms.
Located just a few minutes from the CBD, the hotel’s 225 studios and suites, including an expansive Penthouse, feature nparalleled views of both the Singapore River and vibrant city via floor-to-ceiling windows. I was priviliged to experience a suite with a exquisite views of the river and a glimpse of the nearby residential. Beds are incredibly comfortable with a very high standard of soundproofing. Bathrooms, at least in suites, include a large separate walk-in shower and a freestandig bathtub.
Designed by award-winning architect firm, SCDA, the residential-inspired property combines elements from Robertson Quay’s industrial and intriguing past with sleek contemporary finishes using rich Italian marble, slate, brushed copper and bronzes, whilst seamlessly blending into the residential surrounds. The light-filled room interiors have been designed to magnify the familiar comforts of home. You will also be impressed by bespoke amenities such as a specially designed in-room cocktail kit by local bar guru’s Proof & Co.
InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is fully equipped for business travellers, with five intimate meeting and event spaces as well as an exclusive 24-hour Club InterContinental lounge, with a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the river. The Quayside Lounge, which is set amongst lush tropical surroundings on level four, offers sophisticated afternoon tea and curated evening cocktails. I enjoyed a lavish breakfast in the Lounge, which impressed me with a most personalize approach, staff being courteous, warm and intuitive.
The hotel does not have an on-site Spa, however, guests looking to maintain their wellness routines can look forward to recreational facilities such as the lap pool and 24-hour fitness studio. I learned from the hotel there are plans for a partnership with a nearby luxury Spa.
Unlike a traditional InterContinental property, the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay proposes a destination style Food&Beverage offering. Flagship restaurant Publico, representing the central core of Italian culture, will be a multi-concept dining destination comprising a variety of Italian experiences under one roof – a neighbourhood deli and bar and a ristorante with adjoining terrazzo by the river. I enjoyed a fantastic Italian authentic dinner on the outdoor terrace, with a standard to service to match the product and the concept.
Other highlights throughout the hotel include New York institution Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener, and a bar and dining concept from the team behind Izy Sushi. All venues have become a destination for local patrons, with a very friendly and laid-back vibe. It is a true achievement for the hotel to have integrated into the local community so fast. This makes the property exceptionally warm for outsides guests.
Service throughout my stay was not only consistent but it was genuine, personalized and attentive. I was particularly impressed with the fact that througout the entire hotel, I would be recognized by name. I also have high praises for the Concierge which are ready to cater to the most sophisticated needs and wishes. During my stay, the Concierge organised a bespoke tour of Singapore which included the Muslim Quarter and Little India.
