Most recently, Guntram Weipert was General Manager at the Steigenberger Icon Parkhotel Düsseldorf for around two years. During his 30-year hospitality career, he also gained international experience with stints in New York, Zurich and Gstaad. The 52-year-old is a qualified hotel specialist and has further training in hospitality controlling.
Frank Marrenbach, CEO of Althoff Hotels, commented: “On behalf of the entire Althoff family, I would like to warmly welcome Guntram Weipert. His many years of expertise in the hotel industry are an asset to the local team, which is already working with a lot of heart and dedication on this extraordinary project. The Dom Hotel moves us all and is not only a place of hospitality and relaxation that connects and inspires people, but also a living part of the city’s history. It will be a hotel for the people of Cologne – full of charm, tradition and new history.”
The opening of the Althoff Dom Hotel is planned for this year, right next to Cologne’s landmark. Future guests will then be able to enjoy 130 rooms and suites, a hotel bar and the signature restaurant with a roof terrace and a view of Cologne Cathedral. The first guests stayed in what was then the Hôtel du Dôme as early as 1840 – the hotel is considered one of the oldest grand hotels in Europe.
