Restaurants have many classifications depending on their type of food preparation methods, serving style, and pricing. There are two broad classifications, casual and luxury restaurants. All restaurants must have qualified staff and kitchen accessories to make food preparation and service easy. Every restaurant should have essentials such as a self sharpening knife set, ovens, and other food preparation tools and equipment. We will discuss the two main types of restaurants to help you understand.
These are:
- Casual restaurants
Casual restaurants are the intermediary between fast foods and luxury restaurants. They offer a buffet style of service, but you may also get self-service in some casual restaurants. The food prices are moderate, and they mainly serve popular meals. The ambiance and general restaurant environment are relaxing, with an attractive décor scheme.
- Luxury restaurants
For those looking for a formal dining experience, they should opt for luxurious restaurants. They serve exceptional dishes and maybe pricier. The décor scheme is top-notch, and the ambiance is also world-class. The building architecture, staff etiquette, table settings, and lighting options are classy to reflect the high standards of dining in a luxurious restaurant.
Difference between casual restaurant and luxury restaurant
The two types of restaurants differ in the following aspects:
- Ambiance and elegance
More attention to cuisines preparations from ethnic, exotic, or organic ingredients is predominant in luxury restaurants. Music themes will differ, but popular luxury dining themes are modern, classic, or jazz music. Special attention to tableware, cutlery, and waiters’ dress code and etiquette differ from what you will find in casual restaurants. Casual restaurants lack such ambiance and are adjustable depending on the client’s needs for table setup, dishes, and other aspects, unlike luxury restaurants.
- Type of food and service options
Casual restaurants offer popular foods with no focus on cutlery and serving options. In luxury restaurants, they pay attention to details of cooking original food, the presentation, and service of such food using high-quality cutlery appropriate.
- Dress code
There are four types of dress codes: formal, casual, business-casual, or casually elegant. The official or business-casual dress code is the norm for luxury restaurants. In casual restaurants, there is no specific dress code, and diners mostly dress in casual wear.
- Customer service
In casual restaurants, the customer service ends after you receive your order. But for luxury hotels, it extends to explaining food items on the menu, replacing napkins, and offering escorts to the guest tables or out of the premises. They pay more attention to customer needs too.
- Price
Prices for foods and beverages are higher in luxury restaurants because of the unique foods available, high-level customer service, and ambiance of the restaurants. The guest experience, food presentation, and additional customer services also influence the high prices in luxury restaurants.
Other restaurant options are food café, fast-food outlets, and food trucks. When choosing a restaurant, consider the cleanliness, price, and type of food served. Other factors to consider are the guests you plan to host, the convenience, and personal preferences. All restaurants and eateries should offer a conducive, relaxing, and beautiful place to dine.
