The Peninsula has long been committed to promoting the rich and vibrant cultural aspects of our destination cities. With this, our three hotels throughout the United States are integrating contemporary and emerging art into the hotel’s public spaces this summer, offering guests a front row seat to these exclusive installations and artists, many of which are rarely on view to the public.
The Peninsula New York recently debuted Home, an exhibition honoring the notions of home, identity and community, as an ode to The Peninsula’s larger commitment to celebrating family and heritage. The exhibition features a curated selection of original works by artists including Do Ho Suh, Catherine Opie, Angel Otero, Ashley Bickerton and Heidi Bucher, who present the notion of home and community through their original works. The hotel will also launch a series of one-of-a-kind events and activations to take place through November, including a collectors’ dinner, ‘Culture Talks’ hosted by artists and curators, as well as partnerships with various arts organizations. The exhibition is on view through November 30.
The Peninsula Chicago is proud to announce the latest installation to the hotel’s Artist in Residence program in partnership with master photographer, Peter Lik, on view through July 2019. A self-taught pioneer in the field of landscape photography, Peter is internationally renowned for captivating images of Mother Nature’s raw beauty. Guests can experience unique settings through Peter Lik’s lens on the hotel’s lobby level adjacent to the entrance to Z Bar.
In Beverly Hills, The Peninsula is bringing Los Angeles’ vibrant street art to The Belvedere Terrace, with the introduction of the Emerging Artists Series in partnership with Impermanent Art. The Terrace will come alive as a rotating selection of notorious street artists create one-of-a-kind works of art in real time as part of the 16-week series, taking place each Thursday, now through September 5 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Guests can enjoy specialty cocktails and bites from an art-inspired menu, while live pop and rock music fills the air. Every first Thursday of the month, The Peninsula Beverly Hills will donate 20% of proceeds to the Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention services to the LGBTQ+ community.
