With the Baselworld watch and jewellery show just a few weeks away (March 23-30, 2017), Chanel has unveiled a new watch to add to its “Mademoiselle Privé” ladies’ collection. The “Mademoiselle Privé Aubazine” pays homage to a décor that left a lasting impression on the life of Gabrielle Chanel, with a design inspired by the Cistercian stained-glass windows of Aubazine abbey in south-western France.
After presenting the “Mademoiselle Privé Coromandel Flying Birds” at last year’s Swiss watch show, Chanel has a new prestigious timepiece in store for 2017. Crafted by a team of skilled artisans, including expert enamellists, engravers, carvers and jewel-setters, the watch combines creativity and high-end watchmaking expertise. Like other models in the collection, “Mademoiselle Privé Aubazine” pays homage to one the symbols dear to Gabrielle Chanel.
For this new chapter in the “Mademoiselle Privé” story, the French label has drawn inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel’s childhood, which was in part spent at the orphanage of Aubazine abbey, a Cistercian monastery in the Corrèze department of France. The watch dial has an intricate pattern, directly inspired by the abbey’s stained-glass windows.
As well as being crafted with high-end expertise, this new “Mademoiselle Privé” watch is made from a host of exquisite materials.
The watch has a 37.5mm 18K white gold case set with 552 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling approximately 3.03 carats. The 18K white gold crown is also set with a diamond of around 0.19 carats.
Set with diamonds of varying cuts (notably brilliant and baguette cuts), totalling approximately 2.68 carats, the dial features 18K white gold hands. The watch comes with a black satin strap with an 18K white gold folding buckle set with 80 brilliant-cut diamonds.
Water-resistant to 30 metres, the “Mademoiselle Privé Aubazine” watch has an automatic mechanical movement with hours and minutes functions. It has a 42-hour power reserve.
