Taiwan’s Eva Air partnered with BMW Group’s Designworks to create new seat design for the Royal Laurel business-class cabin, which will be a part of their new Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The airline challenged the Designworks team to create the new business class seats that will compete with the best in the world. The challenge was to maintain ties to traditional elements of the brand, while adopting a bold strategy and step away from a ‘conventional’ seat design to create something unique that will offer a different yet enjoyable experience to its passengers. Designworks focused on in-cabin experience, including meal service access and user friendly feature design, and introduced a new approach that incorporates streamlining stowage, whilst maximizing spaces for productivity and entertainment.
“The introduction of Boeing 787 Dreamliners is essential to our continuous pursuit of service excellence,” said EVA President Clay Sun. “We have adopted a more modern, globalized design concept and combined it with Boeing’s latest aviation technologies to create a luxurious cabin environment and provide all our passengers with an even more comfortable flying experience.” The design language focuses on professional travellers seeking a productive yet relaxing environment, Designworks equipped the design with seamless space that integrates features cleanly and provides ample horizontal work surfaces. Eva Air will begin taking delivery of the Boeing 787 Dreamliners on October 2, 2018.
