U.S. wellness giant Equinox is scheduled to open its very first hotel, Equinox Hotel in New York June 2019. The hotel is part of the Hudson Yards mixed use complex which includes luxury condominiums a shopping mall anchored by Neiman Marcus, 25 different dining and casual eating options, 14 acres of public open green space as well as revolutionary arts space, as well as an HSS outpatient hospital.
Equinox Hotel New York, which is a member of Virtuoso, will feature 212 accommodations, of which 48 suites. Guests can access to the hotel’s 60,000-square-foot fitness centre (Equinox’s largest) and a slew of wellness-focused offerings, including healthy in-room dining and an on-property spa, to help them stay fit while on the road. Equinox Hotels is headed by CEO Christopher Norton, formerly a top executive with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. The hotel’s general manager is Philipp Posch, formerly with Trump Hotels.
The company will also diversify in the travel industry sector by rolling out multi-day luxury tours around the world starting April 2019. New York-based Equinox has partnered with Leah Howe, formerly of Toronto-based Butterfield & Robinson, and New York’s Van Wyck & Van Wyck, on its new tours product, which Equinox fitness club members, hotel guests, and other travelers can book.
Equinox will offer U.S. domestic and international tours that were conceived with its membership in mind, according to a statement from the company. The new tours will debut summit-chasing adventure in Morocco, while there are a total of 19 tours scheduled for 2019.
Equinox currently has 94 fitness clubs across the U.S., Canada, and London. The second Equinox Hotel is scheduled to open in Los Angeles in 2020.
