Gucci will present its 2018 cruise collection in the Palatine Gallery of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, a prestigious venue that has never before hosted a fashion show. The show is scheduled for May 29.
After Greek authorities rejected the Italian label’s request to hold a fashion show at the Athens Acropolis, Gucci is taking its 2018 cruise collection to one of the most beautiful palaces in Florence. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Gucci’s president and CEO, Marco Bizzarri, the Italian media reported.
The couture house is to hire the space for about 200,000 euros, on top of the two million euros that Gucci will allocate for the restoration of the Gardens of Boboli, the 45,000-square-metre green space belonging to the Florentine palace.
For its part, the Palazzo Pitti will allow fashionistas to enjoy the upcoming collection in an unrivalled space, as it will be the first time that the gallery has hosted a fashion show.
In January, the Florentine palace opened its fashionable ‘Sala Bianca’ to showcase a men’s collection by Florentine house Stefano Ricci, a unique occasion that served to recall the first fashion show organised in 1952 by the Italian Giovanni Battista Giorgini .
