Various sourced cited by Italian media, Gucci and Balenciaga are reportedly preparing a collaboration on the occasion of Gucci Aria, the new collection designed by Alessandro Michele that will debut on Thursday, April 15, marking the 100th anniversary of the brand. The collection should follow a streetwear inspiration and drive the brand’s relaunch strategy after a critical year such as 2020 and that will include a new focus on bags and a ”growing assortment of higher-end products to a more local customer base” according tot François-Henri Pinault, president and CEO of the Kering Group, which owns both brands
Alessandro Michele and Demna Gvasalia may be working on a series of items, which will be unveiled in a short film, that will feature the double branding of Gucci and Balenciaga. The initiative is expected to inaugurate a series of collaborations (as well as about 150 events) that will involve Gucci in the upcoming months on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the brand.
