Gurney’s Resorts announces its expansion to the West Coast with the acquisition of The Beach Retreat and Lodge in South Lake Tahoe. The property will undergo a comprehensive, multi-year renovation and debut as Gurney’s Lake Tahoe Resort & Spa in Spring 2027. The transition and extensive capital improvements will immediately begin at the South Lake Tahoe waterfront location.
Upon opening, Gurney’s Lake Tahoe Resort & Spa will have 206 guest rooms and suites, and feature Gurney’s vibrant signature experiences like new food and beverage concepts, a transformative spa, refreshed banquet and event spaces, and private beach and marina access.The hotel will lean into its pristine setting, emphasizing immersive outdoor experiences available year-round, from lakeside recreation in the summer to easy access to world-class ski access in the winter.
Gurney’s Lake Tahoe will serve as a sister property to the flagship Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa on Long Island, New York’s east end. Situated on Montauk’s most desirable stretch of private oceanfront, the year-round Hamptons resort is renowned for its expansive private beach, new signature restaurant gigi’s montauk, and its award-winning Seawater Spa – the only ocean-fed seawater spa in North America.
This established legacy of delivering luxury hospitality in iconic coastal environments assures that the new Lake Tahoe resort will be designed to become the definitive four-season luxury destination on the West Coast.
