Opposite the grand gates of French Riviera icon Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, sits a historic villa which will be unveiled in May 2021: Villa Sainte-Anne. Built in the early 1900s as a private home, Hotel du Cap purchased the villa in 2019 and has spent nearly two years extensively refurbishing the property and gardens. Set apart from the main hotel grounds, Villa Sainte-Anne will offer a secluded, ultra-private and glamorous retreat without compromising access to all hotel facilities.
The history of the villa is intrinsically intertwined with that of Hotel du Cap. In 1887, the young Italian hotelier Antoine Sella purchased what was then Villa Soleil, a Napoleon III-style mansion and turned it into what is today Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. Sella took two years to restore the property from a writer’s retreat to a ‘summer house’ and in January 1889, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc opened its doors for the first time.
It was Sella’s vision and demand for an uncompromising level of luxury that began attracting a discerning clientele of famous artists, writers, actors, royalty and heads of state from as early as 1920. Sella also purchased Villa Sainte-Anne in 1916, before selling it on again in 1921. Nearly 100 years later, the property is back under Hotel du Cap’s ownership and will be ready for guests to check into after a two-year renovation next Spring.
Promising to be the crown jewel in Hotel du Cap’s accommodation offering, Villa Sainte-Anne will comprise five en-suite bedrooms each complete with its own dressing room; a spa with sauna, steam, Hammam and gym; and chic living and dining areas spread over 3,700ft2. As with the main hotel, Oetker Collection family member, Countess Bergit Douglas was responsible for the elegant interiors throughout the property.
Behind the villa, cascading gardens conceal a private pool and an expansive shaded terrace which offers spectacular views across the bay of Juan-les-Pins. Villa Sainte-Anne will join Villa Eleana and Villa Les Cèdres, further expanding Hotel du Cap’s exceptional villa offering.
The fully staffed villa will come with a dedicated butler, on hand 24/7 to arrange poolside lunches, mix evening cocktails and arrange intimate soirées, as well as to make all leisure and dinner reservations. A chauffeur and car are also offered for up to five hours a day. A separate annex with a laundry room and luggage room will be available for guests who wish to travel with their own staff.
Villa guests will benefit from VIP access to all of Hotel du Cap’s facilities, including the emblematic saltwater rock pool and red clay tennis courts. This is in addition to exclusive usage of a private seaside cabana – part of the mythical Riviera experience since the 1930s – two complimentary daily one-hour spa treatments, and an excursion for four people on board the Aquariva Super ‘Eden-Roc’ during a stay.
Nightly rates will start from €13,800 in low season (approx. £12,451) and go up to €25,000 (approx. £22,556) in high season. Rates include breakfast, non-alcoholic drinks, night security, laundry, tax, service, full access to Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc hotel facilities, roundtrip airport transfers and VIP meet & greet at Nice Airport
