Over time, the Parisian Maison has often referenced India in many of its collection, paying respect and tribute to the crafts and craftsmanship which can only be found in India.
In January 2022, Parisian jeweller Boucheron of Place Vendome in Paris has launched a spectacular high-jewelry collection inspired by and paying tribute to the Maharajas. In 1928, Boucheron was commissioned the largest special order in the history of Place Vendôme. In 2022, Creative Director Claire Choisne pays tribute to this treasure by creating “New Maharajahs” for the Maison, thus writing a new page in its Histoire de Style collection.
Known to be the most important in the history of Place Vendôme, this special order is recounted with passion by historian Vincent Meylan: “On that summer day in 1928, the Maharajah was escorted by Sikh guards carrying iron safes, Bhupindar Singh crossed the square and pushed the door of Boucheron. Louis Boucheron, who welcomed them in his boutique at 26 Place Vendôme, discovered an extraordinary treasure inside these chests”
