The New York showroom, located off Manhattan’s Madison Avenue in a luxurious townhouse, will only be accessible to Moda Operandi’s customers via an invite. Approximately 400 select clients are expected to pass through the showroom in the next year.
The space will take up three levels and 3,200-square-feet of a residential block. The retail experience will mark the first time Moda Operandi has ventured stateside and the second time they are opening a brick-and-mortar showroom.
The luxury e-commerce retailer opened the doors of its London showroom in September 2014 and plan to open fifteen more showrooms around the world before 2021.
The retailer has found huge success since opening showrooms. While the retailer’s online customers reportedly spend $1,200 online, customers spend over four times that amount at physical retail stores.
Founded in 2011, Moda Operandi offers men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel, footwear, jewelry, and accessories. The retailer carries an array of high-end designers, including Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang, Giambattista Valli, Missoni, Elie Saab, and over a hundred others.
Moda Operandi operates on a unique business model – allowing customers to shop from ‘trunk shows’ in the weeks immediately after a runway show and months before a collection is released. The customer pays 50% of the ticket price at the time of purchase, and the rest when the item is released. Moda Operandi is financially backed by LVMH Group
